They face increased demand for services from the most needy in our community, dwindling donations and a heart to support the children and families who need it most. We Are LA Family Festival selected 7 charity partners to support their incredible work and mission. They are providing financial literacy, tutoring, voices for children of Los Angeles. Read more about them below.

The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and these organizations are working to give Los Angeles children the access to resources that are outside of the classroom to create a better future and to help break the cycle of poverty and the cycle of violence. 

826LA

826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around our understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this in mind, we provide after-school tutoring, evening and weekend workshops, in-school tutoring help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications.

Amer-I-Can

Amer-I-Can was founded in 1988 by NFL Hall of Fame recipient, Jim Brown. The program goal is to help enable individuals to meet their academic potential, to conform their behavior to acceptable society standards, and to improve the quality of their lives by equipping them with the critical life management skills to confidently and successfully contribute to society.

CASA of Los Angeles

CASA’s mission is to mobilize community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children. CASA OF LOS ANGELES improves the lives of children in the dependency system by pairing them with trained volunteer advocates. CASA seeks to reduce and reverse the effects of child abuse and neglect. Nowhere in the nation is the problem greater than in Los Angeles County, where 30,000 children who have been abused or neglected are under the jurisdiction of the Dependency Court. One-third of these children are age 0-5; infants and toddlers are the fastest growing group of abused children. CASA will serve 6,000 children in FY2016, including 1,000 with intensive advocacy services.

Happy Trails for Kids

Happy Trails for Kids is about fun and friendship and developing self-confidence for youth in foster care. Our programs provide kids ages 7 to 18 with enriching outdoor adventures, invaluable mentorships, and opportunities to develop leadership skills and prepare for life after foster. We believe that fostering continuity and belonging is the first step in combating the challenges of foster care and promoting success.

Junior Achievement of Southern California

JA’s mission is to inspire and empower young people to succeed in the global economy, through a community of partnerships of educators, volunteers, philanthropy and business. JA SoCal’s programs seek to inspire financial literacy, workforce readiness, entrepreneurship education, all concepts reinforced through JA’s volunteer mentors who lead students through JA Classroom, Job Shadow and Finance Park programs.

Richstone Family Center

The Richstone Family Center is dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse and trauma, strengthening and educating families and decreasing violence in families, schools and communities. Incorporated as a non-profit social services agency in 1974 and awarded a grant from the State of California in 1977 as one of the first of 6 child abuse treatment and prevention programs in the state. With this grant Richstone Center was established as a comprehensive agency providing services to approximately 70 families a year.

Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation

The LA Galaxy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to helping children through educational, health and soccer based initiatives and programs. With your support, the LA Galaxy Foundation will continue to support organizations and activities dedicated to encouraging, educating and empowering the children in our community.
